Special Litigation Counsel to the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors of Title III debtors in the $129 billion Puerto Rico government-debt crisis and insolvency proceedings (“PROMESA”), which include the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Puerto Rico Electric and Power Authority, Employees Retirement System, and the Highways and Transportation Authority.
Lead Trial Counsel to the Chapter 11 Trustee in successfully litigating through trial and obtaining a $16+ million judgment consisting of compensatory and punitive damages against the debtor’s former directors and their employer, one of the largest residential developers in the U. S.
Trial Counsel to Liquidating Trustee of a Ponzi scheme involving 30,000 victims, managing several litigations, arbitrations, and appeals successfully, including obtaining dismissals and summary judgment before trial.
Counsel to candidates and elected officials in election contests and disputes concerning the exercise of their official duties.
Special Litigation Counsel to the Chapter 11 Trustee of a billion-dollar Ponzi scheme in prosecuting and obtaining over $100 million in settlements arising from professional liability, bank liability and fraudulent transfer claims.
Counsel to federal equity receivers appointed in enforcement actions prosecuted by the Securities and Exchange Commission and Federal Trade Commission.
Counsel to financial services organization in Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceeding, leading to confirmed bankruptcy plan with approval from major creditor constituencies.
